Belaire High School Invitational

On last night, April 11, The Hornets carried on in their usual manner, having a successful day at the Track , by competing and winning at the Belaire High School Invitational.  The Hornets out paced the rest of the 16 team field by scoring 156 points.  For the Seniors it was the home finale. Senior 

Lafayette Collins received MVP of the meet , by winning 4x800, 800 , 1600 and 3200 . All Seniors put on stellar performances as they tune up for conference.  The Conference Championship will be held on Wednesday, April 17, 2019 at Walker High School.  Please come out and support your Hornet Team.

LOUISIANA MEET OF CHAMPIONS

The Hornets competed at Louisiana Meet of Champions on the campus of Southeastern University at Hammond , Louisiana on Tuesday, April 8. The Hornets outpaced the Field of Teams from around the entire state to capture the Team Title.  In route to the title that secured a win in all 4 Team Relays. (4x800, 100 , 200 & 400). The Hornets will host the season home finale on Thursday with the Belaire Relays. Please come out and support the team as they have the final tune up for the District Championship on April 17 @ Walker High School.

Crusaders Relays

The Hornets traveled to New Orleans on March 27th to compete against top notch Catholic league competition .  The Hornets 🐝 placed 1st among a host of talented teams.  It was a true team effort.  The Varsity and JV combined to out distance the field by scoring 48 points in a vast array of challenging relays.   The Hornets return to competition next Wednesday, April 3 at Scottlandville High School . Please continue to support the Hornets as they fine tune for the District Championship.

Allstate Sugar Bowl Track Meet

The Hornets traveled to New Orleans to compete in the  Nationally renowned All State Sugar Bowl Track Meet held this week at Tad Gormley Stadium on March 22-23.  The team finished 3rd out of a 90 team highly competitive field.  Teams traveled from Illinois, Tennessee, Mississippi, Alabama, and Texas.  Reginald 

King once again showed why he is the number two ranked Triple Jumper in the U.S. by capturing 1st Place.  Our 4x800 meter relay finished Third in a highly touted field of teams.  That team consists of Zion Booker, Lafayette Collins, Bristen Tate and Ramone.  All team members advanced to the finals on Saturday, while all posted (PRs)personal Records.  Our Hornets will return to New Orleans Tad Gormley Stadium this Wednesdayto complete in the Brother MARTIN Crusaders Relays . Please support and acknowledgment team members as they continue to represent SMHS in a very positive light.

Melvin Stringer Relays

On Thursday March 21st , the Hornets played host to the Melvin Stringer Relays held on the campus of Scottlandville High School.  The Hornets put on a stellar performance on route to capturing first place in a myriad of relay races.  Coach Duncan, Coach Stanley , Coach Jordan and Dillingham unleashed an arsenal of talent that dazzled the crowd.  This meet was also Senior Day, in which the talent rich Senior Class was acknowledged for their Track contribution and legacy at SMHS. The team will travel to the prestigious Sugar Bowl Relays on Friday, March 22-23 at Tad Gormley stadium in New Orleans against the Nations best talent.

Brusly Invitational

On March 20th the Hornets finished 2nd at the Brusly Invitational held at Brusly HIgh School.  The talent rich Hornets finished with 98 points to 102 points barely being edged out by Baker High School.  The JV team was on prominent display against the areas complete varsity teams.  Amongst early miscues, the Hornets stormed back to capture the Runner Up title.  The Hornets will be on display at the Highly anticipated Melvin Stringer Relays to be held at Scottlandville High School.  Melvin Stringer was a ground breaking successful Track and Field Coach at Scottlandville High during the infancy of the school ‘s history.  He went on to develop young men and win several State Championships during the school ‘s transition.

Texas Southern Relays

The Scotlandville Boy’s Track Team traveled to Houston, Texas to compete in the prestigious Texas Southern Relays held on the campus of Texas Southern University.  A two day competition, in which the team qualified in all relays on Friday.  The 4x100 Relay, 4x200 and the 4x400 Relay.  The Hornets 🐝 culminated the Friday night cap by Finishing 3rd in the Sprint Medley Relay (200, 200, 400, 800) and running a blistering time that currently ranks the team 10th Nationally. That team consist of Nick Williams, Dejon Ross , Bristen Tate, and Lafayette Collins.  On Saturday the team waisted no time when Reginald King the Nations 2nd 

ranked Triple Jumper finished in 2nd Place.  All team members turned in stellar performances across the board posting their best times of this early season.  Please come out and support our JV team on Wednesday as they travel to Brusly.  On Thursday we host the Melvin Stringer Relay at Scotlandville High School. On Friday and Saturday we will compete in the All State Sugar Bowl Relays in New Orleans.

Hornet Relays

Congratulations to the Boys’ Track Team and to Coach Duncan and staff on the Team’s early Outdoor Success! They are 3-0, by capturing the Hornet 🐝 Relays, Bulldog Relays and the Mentorship Relays.  Lafayette Collins has captured 3 MVP titles in as many competitions.  Reginald King has been stellar in jumps by registering a Nation's Best Triple Jump.  Please continue to support our team as they Travel to Houston, TX, to compete in the Texas Southern University Relays.
